After he was sentenced nine months actual imprisonment by the magistrate’s court in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem), the Israeli prosecution intends to file on Tuesday another indictment against sheikh Ra’ed Salah, the head of the Islamic movement in the 1948 occupied lands.
The new indictment against the sheikh is about holding a philanthropic dinner on the roof of Al-Halawani house in the Wadi Joz neighborhood in Al-Quds, on 22/8/2007. During the charity diner the attendance were surprisingly attacked by the Israeli occupation forces.
During the attack on the dinner ceremony the IOF troops used sound and tear gas shells and injured sheikh Salah in his hand, where he was transferred to Al-Makasid hospital for treatment.
Against the backdrop of these events, the Israeli prosecution is going to file an indictment against Sheikh Salah with the magistrate’s court in occupied Al-Quds, for allegedly disobeying the orders of the Israeli police and thwarting their mission.
The Israeli prosecution claims that sheikh Raed Salah participated along with 30 others in an illegal gathering according to orders issued by the inspector-general of the Israeli police.
However, the truth is that this ceremony was planned to be held in the Commodore hotel, but the Israeli police sealed the hotel according to a military order, then the charity dinner was moved to another private place, which was the roof of Al-Halawani house.
In another context, secretary-general of the Islamic-Christian committee Hasan Khater on Sunday said that the Palestinian citizens in Al-Quds live in a stifling atmosphere as a result of Israel’s repressive policy that aims to close all outlets in their face and depriving them from their minimum needs for construction and expansion on their own lands.
In a press release, Khater added that this policy is not spontaneous, but it is part of all schemes and steps that have been carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) for the sake of Judaizing Al-Quds and displacing its indigenous people.
He also warned that the idea of biblical gardens, which the IOA has embarked on establishing on confiscated Palestinian lands in the areas of Issawiya, Silwan, Bab Al-Rahma, is one of the most dangerous Judaization projects.
The head of the committee also appealed to all concerned international organizations especially the UNESCO to urgently intervene to prevent Israel from committing these new violations against Al-Quds and its religious and historical identity.
