The Islamic Society in Gaza has begun a project where they built Dar Al-Fadilah (Benevolent Home) for Orphans in Khirbat al-`Ads in the city of Rafah. This is a comprehensive project comprising more than one program, the most important of which is providing housing for the orphans. The project also includes a primary school and many other services for the good of the orphans. It is financed by the Union of Good Organization as well as other charitable institutions. It is set up on a piece of land estimated at 6 dunums.
According to Abu Mu`adh, one of the officials responsible for carrying out the project, this project consists of three main buildings:
First, the Housing
Building: We have built the concrete of the housing building on a piece of land that is 300 square meters. This building is to be composed of ten apartments for housing the orphans and the needy. So far it has cost about 150,000 dollars, and it is still in need of an extra amount of 120,000 dollars so that it can be completely finished.
Second, the School and Management Building:
We have completed the concrete and finishing work of this building on a piece of land that is 450 square meters. It consists of three floors including fifteen classes of different sizes, in addition to administrative offices, a library, and a computer laboratory. The cost of this building is estimated at 250,000 dollars.
Third, the Public Services
The Building of this building is located on a piece of land that is 980 square meters and consists of three floors including: (a mosque, a clinic, a center for teaching the Qur'an, and a modern conference center). It is expected that we will accomplish the concrete stage that will cost 170,000 dollars within two months. However, the Society is still in need of an extra amount of 200,000 dollars for finishing the work and providing furnishings.
