The OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference) Humanitarian Affairs Department and Qatar Charity have completed the final preparations for launching the activities of the third annual meeting of the OIC humanitarian organizations beginning March 7, 2010. The Charity is going to host the two-day event under the slogan, “Together for Effective Solidarity.”
The conference will focus on two main aspects, co-operation between the humanitarian organizations in disaster preparedness and disaster response in the Muslim world, and strengthening co-operation between the humanitarian organizations and the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
It aims at approving mechanisms of joint humanitarian action to enhance co-operation in humanitarian programmes in the catastrophe-stricken regions in the Muslim world.
The participants will also consider progress made in the implementation of the recommendations of the second conference related to the OIC humanitarian action and the humanitarian situation in the Muslim World.
Furthermore, the conference will shed light on forming a council for representing the NGOs with OIC and the code of conduct of the humanitarian action, in addition to enlightening the public of the member states of the OIC and civil society organizations in respect of importance of the humanitarian action programs and how to face challenges.
A number of V.I.P and dignitaries will participate in the activities of this conference.
In the same context, several organizing, scientific, information and secretarial committees were formed by the first and second conferences which were respectively held in Senegal 2008 and Libya 2009 for the purpose of preparing and carrying out required activities. In addition to that, fairs of achievements in the humanitarian field and specialized workshops were organized on regions which could witness frequent catastrophes.
