The Egyptian government has agreed on permitting the entry of “Miles of Smiles 2

The Egyptian government has agreed on permitting the entry of “Miles of Smiles 2” with its cargo to Al-Arish through Alexandria port.

The organizers of the convoy said that it set out from Venice airport, in Italy, heading to Alexandria, then to Al-Arish port on 5/8/2010 to enter the besieged Gaza Strip.

They added that the cargo of Miles of Smiles 2 contains medical equipment and relief material that will be entered to Gaza Strip according to the needs of hospitals and the ministry of health, with the consent of the Egyptian side.

In the same context, The general coordinator of the convoy Dr.Issam Yousef said that the organizing committee of the convoy has purchased 50 ambulances to transport the disabled with a total cost of one million Euros, in addition to quantities of medicine , and a number of medical equipment.

Dr.Yousef added that the convoy consists of 70 participants, and will include a number of European parliamentarians, noting that the convoy is under the sponsorship of the former Lebanese Prime Minister Salim Al-Hoss.
