A gathering that represents a number of organizations and legal institutions in various European countries, rejecting the settlement and the Apartheid Wall in Palestine, has launched “ The European Initiative to Remove the Wall and Settlements”.
The gathering chose its headquarters in the Hague, that hosts the headquarters of the International World Court.
This came during “ Palestine festival 2011..No for the occupation..No for settlements “ that was organized in Rotterdam to underline the constants of the Palestinian people, and called for ending the oppressive Israeli siege being imposed on Gaza for the fifth consecutive year.
Ameen Abu Rashed, the conference chairman said that the announcement of kicking off the European initiative aims at challenging settlement policy and the separation wall in the occupied Palestinian territories that clearly violate the international and humanitarian laws.
He added that the initiative will tackle various issues related to settlement and Separation wall in the occupied territories, especially in Al-Quds( Jerusalem) where settlement building is accelerated, many homes were destroyed, and lands were confiscated, after being encircled with the Apartheid wall.
During the festival, which saw a significant presence of children of Palestinians in the exile across the European continent, in addition to the presence of solidarity activists with the Palestinian cause, an exhibition of Palestinian products was organized, besides an auction to support the Palestinian people.
Khaled Al-Tiraany, the director of Brussels media institution “Inform”, and Abbas Nasser Al-Jazeera TV correspondent were the principal hosts of the festival and talked about their experience while they participated in the first Freedom Flotilla, that was savagely attacked by the Israeli navy in last May, while in its way to Gaza Strip.
