Kuwait modern city

Kuwait will dispatch urgently-needed aid worth USD 10 million to Somalia, as millions of people there suffer from famine and hunger due to the worst wave of drought to have hit the country in 10 years.

The announcement was made by Kuwaiti State Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Ali Al-Rashed on Monday, saying the Cabinet decision was made upon the directions of the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

"The assistance provided comes in accordance with Kuwait's usual stance in providing impoverished nations with relief aid in order to ease the suffering of their people," Al-Rashed was quoted as saying in a statement.

The relief aid will be distributed by a Kuwaiti national charity fund in coordination with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and the Foreign Ministry.
