The participant delegations in the humanitarian convoy “ Miles of Smiles 8” started to arrive in Cairo, while awaiting for the approval of the competent governmental parties on their entry to Gaza Strip.
Dr.Issam Mustafa, the general coordinator of Miles of Smiles, in a press statement to Amman based “Humanitarian Voice” said that the number of participants would be lesser than what was announced before, due to incapability of some participants to get entry visa to Egypt.
One of the organizers has announced previously that tens of persons from Arab, and foreign countries, would participate as the following : 32 from Tunis, 4 Palestinians, one from Morocco, 23 from Jordan, 5 from Bahrain, in addition to 35 from Algeria, 6 from Britain, 5 from France, and one participant from Poland.
Dr.Mustafa explained that the participants are still waiting for the approval of the Egyptian authorities to enter to Gaza, as being slated on Tuesday 10-1-2012.
He added that the Egyptian authorities gave its approval for the entry of the convoy’s cargo that included ambulances, vehicles and electrical wheelchairs for those with special needs, besides quantities of medicines.
