A group of non-governmental organizations called on the Arab summit to be held in Baghdad to address the issue of Palestinian refugees in Iraq and the serious violations committed against them there.
"On the occasion of the Arab summit to be held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a number of organizations involved in the affairs of the Palestinian refugees have found the opportunity to draw the attention of the meeting leaders to the conditions of the Palestinian refugees in Iraq and the various forms of violations and arbitrary campaigns which they are exposed to and target their presence in Iraq in general and the area of municipalities in Baghdad in particular," the NGOs stated in a press release on Tuesday.
The NGOs called on the conferees and the Iraqi government to rehabilitate the Casablanca protocol on the situation of Palestinian refugees in Arab countries which was issued in 1965 by the Arab League and adopted by Iraq without any reservation.
The signatories to this statement were Thabet for the right of return, the Palestinian return center, the Palestinian refugee news network, the Palestinian return community Wajeb, the Palestinians in Iraq coalition, and the Palestinian association for human rights Witness.
