The Islamic-Christian Commission of Advocacy for Al-Quds and Holy places has warned of a dangerous Israeli scheme aiming at intensifying settlement building in Al-Quds to achieve the Jewish goal of establishing the so-called “Greater Jerusalem”.
Al-Quds (Jerusalem) became different from what it was, a visitor can easily notice the Zionsit hatred and greed in everywhere of its corners, around its settlements one may see the synagogues, temples, Talmudic gardens, besides drilling and excavations works under its neighborhoods threatening with catastrophic consequences in any time.
The commission in a statement said the project to intensify and extending the settlement was financed by a Jewish Australian billionaire and it includes settlement extending from the holy city of Al-Quds to the Dead Sea, besides the establishment of an international Israeli airport in Jericho.
The statement affirmed that the Israeli forces have already started its implementation by issuing many demolishing orders of Palestinian houses in Silwan, and by continued confiscating of Arab lands in the Holy city, in a manner that threatens the Arab identity of Al-Quds , and threatens the Arab, Muslim , and Christian communities.
For his part, the general secretary of the Islamic-Christian Commission of Advocacy for Al-Quds and Holy places, Dr. Hana Issa emphasized that the successive Israeli governments, since the occupation of East Al-Quds on 5/6/1967 are working hard to judaize the holy city and changing its historical topography and Islamic features.
Since Israeli forces occupied Al-Quds city in 1967, they have practiced all forms of conversion and eradication against the city and its Palestinian inhabitants, in defiance of all international laws and conventions.
Dr.Issa pointed that changing the identity of Al-Quds city by the Israeli occupation aims at changing its legal status , so that the Palestinians would find themselves incapable to negotiate their situation or thie future.
The latest Israeli decisions of building thousands of new residential units, let alone deporting the inhabitants of Al-Quds, are considered flagrant violations to the international law , as article 4 of Geneva convention of the year 1949, and paragraph “D” of article 7 of the statute of the International Criminal Court considers the forced eviction, whether individually or collectively as a crime against humanity.
The Islamic-Christian Commission of Advocacy for Al-Quds and Holy places called the Arab and international organizations, especially The UN Security Council, The Arab League, and The Islamic Cooperation Organization to intervene immediately to stop these schemes and practices and to protect the Islamic identity of Al-Quds.
