The Islamic bloc in the Open Quds University has announced that its members would go on an open sit-in starting Saturday to protest the PA arrest of a student from his home.
The bloc in a statement on Friday strongly denounced the continued policy of political detention, adding that it does not serve the public interest.
It asked the PA security apparatuses to release the student Mahmoud Subaih, who was taken from his home in Bethlehem on Thursday night, immediately.
The bloc noted that the arrest of the student fell at a time a reported positive atmosphere regarding national reconciliation was prevailing.
The bloc refused all forms of violations of public freedoms, and threatened to escalate its protest in the event Subaih was not released.
